Explanation
Under Article 27(1)(i)(d) of the Order, ordinary vehicles may travel at up to 100 km/h on expressway main lanes and on the acceleration or deceleration lanes connected to them. Three-wheeled vehicles and vehicles towing a trailer are excluded. Note that 'ordinary vehicle' is a Japanese vehicle class defined by size and capacity, so it covers small trucks and vans as well as passenger cars.

最高速度のうち、自動車が高速自動車国道の本線車道又はこれに接する加速車線若しくは減速車線を通行する場合の最高速度は、次の各号に掲げる自動車の区分に従い、それぞれ当該各号に定めるとおりとする。一次に掲げる自動車百キロメートル毎時イ大型自動車（三輪のもの並びに牽引するための構造及び装置を有し、かつ、牽引されるための構造及び装置を有する車両を牽引するものを除く。次号において同じ。）のうち専ら人を運搬する構造のものロ中型自動車（三輪のもの並びに牽引するための構造及び装置を有し、かつ、牽引されるための構造及び装置を有する車両を牽引するものを除く。次号において同じ。）のうち、専ら人を運搬する構造のもの又は車両総重量が八千キログラム未満、最大積載重量が五千キログラム未満及び乗車定員が十人以下のものハ準中型自動車（三輪のもの並びに牽引するための構造及び装置を有し、かつ、牽引されるための構造及び装置を有する車両を牽引するものを除く。）ニ普通自動車（三輪のもの並びに牽引するための構造及び装置を有し、かつ、牽引されるための構造及び装置を有する車両を牽引するものを除く。）ホ大型自動二輪車ヘ普通自動二輪車二大型自動車のうち前号イに掲げるもの以外のもの及び中型自動車のうち同号ロに掲げるもの以外のもの九十キロメートル毎時三前二号に掲げる自動車以外の自動車八十キロメートル毎時
