Definition
Nidankai usetsu is the two-step right turn that a general moped (gentsuki) must make at certain intersections: go straight to the far side, stop and turn to face the new direction, then proceed. It is required on a 'multi-lane road' — one with three or more vehicle lanes.
On the test
True/false example: "A 'multi-lane road' where a moped must make a two-stage right turn is a road with two or more vehicle lanes." — False. It is a road with three or more vehicle lanes, not two.
The law behind it
The Road Traffic Act, Article 34, defines the two-stage right turn for mopeds and the 'multi-lane road' (three or more vehicle lanes) where it applies.
